The curriculum and syllabus describe the key competency and learning outcomes of general practice education. They inform the development and delivery of training programs including CPD, and guide learners by suggesting learning modalities and educational resources as they work towards Fellowship. They also serve as a guide to assist with remediation and GPs returning to work after absence. All CPD activities must be mapped to the current RACGP curriculum and syllabus for Australian general practice. There are seven core units, made up of five domains, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health unit and the Rural Health unit. There are 35 contextual units that cover, in detail, specific areas of general practice. They are a useful resource for providers. Providers should select only those core and contextual units that are directly reflected in the activity’s learning outcomes.
