About our work

We support GPs of today and tomorrow continue their professional development from medical students and GPs in training to experienced GPs. We develop resources and guidelines so GPs can provide their patients with world-class healthcare, and we help with the unique issues that affect their practices. We’re a point of connection for GPs serving communities in every corner of the country.

Australia’s GPs see more than two million patients each week, and support Australians through every stage of life. The scope of general practice is unmatched among medical professionals, so the RACGP supports members to be involved in all areas of care, from aged care and mental health, to preventive care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Patient-centred care is at the heart of every Australian general practice, and at the heart of everything we do.

The RACGP represents more than 50,000 members working in or towards a career in general practice. We employ over 1400 people across Australia. A further 1800 GPs work with us in consulting roles. We have offices in every state and territory with our National Office located in East Melbourne, and other offices located in every capital city as well as regionally.

Our values

We work constructively and collaboratively to play our part in ensuring a healthy Australia. We know our work is meaningful and take pride in the privilege of training the future of Australian General Practice.

We pride ourselves on progressive leadership – forward thinking and proactive leaders who lead by example, empowering staff to create and drive innovation.

We consistently strive for quality and excellence in service delivery and advancement in the field. We’re committed to the ethos of acting with integrity, and transparency in serving the best interest of all stakeholders.

We uphold professionalism with a dedicated workforce who respect and collaborate with others and are fully accountable for their actions.

The RACGP is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and social inclusion. We encourage people with a disability, those who identify as Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, mature age and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply for job opportunities.
