I've acquired two clinical lead positions and connected with GPs from all over Australia who are at similar stages in their careers, all thanks to this program. The course content covered everything I needed to lead clinical teams effectively while ensuring safe healthcare. I found invaluable support from my colleagues and program staff, which bolstered my confidence to aim higher and embrace new opportunities. Even after completing the program, I'm still in touch with fellow alumni and we continue to support each other on our individual journeys.

My most enjoyable experiences were in the regular facilitated "action learning groups" (small group learning). I very much enjoyed connecting with GP peers who were on the same journey, and mutually sharing our experiences with applying the lessons from the Program into our respective projects.

The Future Leaders Program gave me a chance to better understand my values and qualities as a leader and connect with an inspiring group of peers who are actively engaged in driving positive change within general practice and the broader community.

From the opening workshops, through to the 'active group learning' meetings each month, there was plenty of opportunity to discuss concepts and ideas with likeminded GPs. We each discussed our journeys in leadership so far and went on to develop our own project in the space of most interest to us. This was a unique experience which allowed us to go beyond our day to day practice as a GP and provide scope for what might be possible in the future.

Specialist GPs are often turned to as the default or de facto leader in many situations - for instance, within the clinic, a local health committee, medical education setting, and others . . . The Future Leaders Program is a fantastic initiative by the RACGP to invest in its members as the future of the profession and greater health system and I encourage my peers to take this opportunity
