Championing better health for Australians every day

The Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) partnership webinar series has provided a platform to increase awareness of recent developments to testing, treatment and management of BBVs and STIs. The partnership has also provided ASHM an opportunity to expand engagement among general practitioners nationally who are less aware of these recent developments. Overall, the purpose of this partnership is to increase the number of active prescribers, increase knowledge and confidence of Australian general practitioners in BBVs and STIs, and improve health outcomes for people living with BBVs and STIs

Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is dedicated to improving the health of Australian women, girls, and trans and gender diverse people through every life stage, and we acknowledge the integral role of GPs in providing information and care to meet this goal. Partnering with the RACGP through Jean Hailes’ Women’s Health Week, our nation-wide health promotion campaign, and presenting a Women’s Health Week webinar series ensures GPs have the information they need to start and support conversations that help women, girls, and trans and gender diverse people make positive and well-informed decisions about their health.

The 'parkrun practice initiative' is a ground-breaking collaboration between parkrun Australia and the RACGP. The partnership supports GPs to talk to patients and practice staff about the benefits of parkrun, and to signpost patients to these free, weekly outdoor 5k events for a variety of reasons — whether people choose to walk, run, volunteer or spectate.

The RACGP's support legitimises and promotes the concept of socially prescribing physical activity (including volunteering), provides essential resources such as the parkrun practice website, and facilitates conversations between parkrun Australia and GPs/GP practices across the country.
