Description

This item conforms to an original design of Dr Joseph Lister, a renowned 19th century hygienist who is widely-regarded as the ‘father’ of modern surgery. It is designed for the extraction of foreign bodies from sinus cavities, however it may also be used for puncturing and drainage of eruptions, and abscess drainage. However, unlike the surgical scalpel it is not designed for the cutting of tissue as such. The item is made from stainless steel and was manufactured in the United Kingdom in approximately 1920. The manufacturer’s specifics are not known.
