About the Clinical Competency Exam

The Clinical Competency Exam (CCE) is the final exam on the pathway to Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

The CCE is an online exam delivered via Zoom.

How the CCE works

Candidates will be presented with nine clinical cases – four case discussions and five clinical encounters. Each case is 15 minutes in duration plus 5 minutes reading time.

Four cases are in the format of a case discussion that involves a candidate discussing a case with the examiner. Five cases are clinical encounters where the candidate directly interacts with a role-player while the examiner observes and assesses.

Cases across each exam day will test the same skills and competencies at Fellowship standard. Each exam day will have a mix of case discussions and clinical encounters.

The CCE is delivered over two consecutive weekends. We ask candidates to keep both exam weekends listed below free until notified of their individual exam days and sessions. Each exam session will be up to three hours. Exam sessions will be allocated and communicated to candidates four weeks prior to the first exam day.
