RACGP GP Training Research

Informing the education and training of Australia’s future GP workforce

About RACGP GP Training Research

General practice is a cornerstone of Australian primary healthcare. Research within general practice is essential for advancing healthcare delivery, improving patient outcomes, and fostering a healthier Australia.

RACGP GP Training Research is an established contributor to Australian and international educational research. The outcomes from our research directly influence the education and training of GP registrars and contribute to ensuring communities receive care from highly skilled practitioners.

Our Research

We conduct a range of research activities, with the centrepiece of our research program being the Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT) project.

With over 250 peer-review journal articles and conference papers, we collaborate with Australian and international researchers, medical educators, GP supervisors, GP registrars, and medical students to deliver research projects aimed at informing and improving GP training.

The Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT) Project

The Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT) project is a flagship general practice education and training project and the first of its kind to document Australian GP registrars’ educational and clinical experiences over time.
