The RACGP has provided a submission to the Australian Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in response to the inquiry into the integrity of the NDIS.

The submission reiterates calls for GPs to be formally and appropriately acknowledged as medical specialists who coordinate the total healthcare of patients with disability. It encourages the committee to consider opportunities to legislate the role of GPs in the NDIS access and planning process. The RACGP’s position has always been that greater involvement of GPs in the NDIS can result in more efficient allocation of funding.
