We understand that life can throw unexpected challenges your way, and sometimes it’s tough to manage everything—including membership fees. If you’re experiencing extreme hardship and finding it difficult to pay your RACGP membership fees, please know you’re not alone. We're here to support you, and depending on your situation, we may be able to fully waive your yearly membership fees or offer a partial subsidy to help ease the financial burden. Our priority is to make sure you get the assistance you need during difficult times.
We encourage you to take a look at the criteria below. They’re here to help you see the kinds of challenges we understand and support, so you know you’re not alone and there are options available to you.
Criteria for applying for membership fees relief:
- Loss of income* due to a natural disaster - Where your income has been directly impacted by events such as flood, fire, cyclone, or other declared disasters.
- Loss of income* due to illness or injury - Where you are unable to work or have significantly reduced capacity to earn because of your own illness or injury.
- Increased essential living or medical expenses due to illness - Where you or an immediate family member (child, spouse, or partner) is experiencing illness that has resulted in substantial additional costs.
- Loss of income* due to a life-changing event - Including (but not limited to) the death of an immediate family member (child, spouse, or partner).
- Loss of income* resulting from community or humanitarian service - Where you are engaged in unpaid or low-paid volunteer, emergency, or humanitarian work that has significantly reduced your income.
- Other extenuating circumstances - Including, but not limited to, domestic or family violence, homelessness, forced displacement, or other comparable crises.
* a minimum of 70% or more income loss due to unforeseen circumstances.
