We have a range of categories for health professionals at different stages of their careers, from GPs in training to retired doctors and GPs living overseas. As an RACGP member you're a part of a community dedicated to supporting GPs and strengthening the future of the general practice profession, ensuring the health and wellbeing of Australians.

RACGP membership types (as per the RACGP Constitution)

 

Australian registered medical practitioners who have completed all RACGP fellowship assessment requirements.

Membership categories: Full Fee, Concession Fee, Senior, Overseas, Retired, Life Member
( Registrar until moved to another Category)

 

Australian registered medical Practitioner who has: Five years specialist registration with Ahpra. Five consecutive years participating in the RACGP CPD program.


Nominated details of two referees whom both must be either current financial Fellows of the college or voting Members themselves of the RACGP (Referees cannot be associate members of the RACGP). Members have full voting rights.

Australian registered medical practitioners who are not Fellows or “Full” Members. Associate members do not have full voting rights. Associates may undertake the RACGP Fellowship or apply to become a ‘Member’ for full voting rights

Membership categories: Full Fee, Concession Fee, Resident Intern, Senior, Overseas and Overseas International Member, Retired, Life Member

 

A medical practioner who is enrolled in the Australian general practice Training (AGPT) program, the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) or the Practice Experience Program (PEP), Fellowship Support Program (FSP) or PEP Specialist stream.

Membership categories: Registrar

 

Affiliates do not hold medical registration. Affiliates have no voting rights.

Membership categories: IMG – International Medical Graduates residing in Australia, but do not have, or previously had Australian Medical registration. Must hold overseas medical registration.

 

Currently enrolled with an Australian University in a medical program approved under national law.
Students have no voting rights.

You’re a medical practitioner who holds valid overseas medical registration and is a member one of the following colleges, Fiji College of General Practitioners, Hong Kong College of Family Physicians & Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia and you live and work outside of Australia.

You’re a student currently enrolled in a medicine program approved under the National Law, or a resident or intern who may be considering a career in general practice and is working in a hospital.
*This excludes myCPD home access.
PGY 3+ doctors who want to nominate the RACGP as their CPD home must join with a Full or Concession category.

GP who has permanently retired from general practice. This excludes access to the RACGP Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program.
Note: doctors who hold practising registration in Australia are required to have a CPD home.
