Payments to practices and supervisors

AGPT-accredited training practices and supervisors who have a registrar training in their practice in 2023 will be supported by the following Nationally Consistent Payments administered by Services Australia from 1 February 2023.

The nationally consistent payment program has been developed through negotiations with the Department of Health, GPSA, AMA, Rural Doctors Association of Australia, ACRRM and the regional training organisations.

To receive these payments your practice must:

Payment amounts are set by the Department of Health and Aged Care and paid according to the MMM classification of the accredited training practice as set out in Tables 1 and 2.

Teaching payments

Teaching payments will be paid monthly (in arrears)* per registrar, per term from 1 February 2023.

*Payments are typically paid to the practice and then distributed to the supervisor(s), unless alternative arrangements are identified.

MMM = Modified Monash Model. Payments increase on the basis of rurality.

Practice payments 

Practice payments will be paid to the practice quarterly in advance per registrar, per term from 1 February 2023.

Failure to meet the requirements set out in the Codes and principles for training sites and supervisors may delay payment to practices.

Supervisor professional development payments

RACGP accredited supervisors with a registrar under current supervision will have access to professional development support payments as follows:

Accredited RACGP primary supervisors with a registrar in term 1 2023 will be paid 4 hours in advance during March.

Accredited RACGP secondary supervisors with a registrar in term 1 2023 will be paid 2 hours in advance during March.

Your Training Coordinator will be in touch during February to inform you of what is required to receive this payment.

Additional travel and accommodation support is available for those attending professional development that requires travel.
