My Health Record in general practice
Last revised: 18 Apr 2023
With many general practices, pharmacies, hospitals, diagnostic imaging services and pathology laboratories now connected to My Health Record, there is future potential for vast amounts of information that can be used to guide health service planning, policy development and research to improve patient outcomes and the healthcare system as a whole.
Once a review of the Framework to guide the secondary use of My Health Record system data is completed, the framework will outline how de-identified and identified information can be used for research or public health purposes. Please note that until this framework is implemented, all use of information in My Health Record must align with the authorisations outlined in Division 2, Part 4 of the Act.
For more information on the secondary use of data and the framework to guide the use of this data, visit the Agency’s Secondary use of data webpage.
