PEP Specialist Pathway Chart

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) should refer to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for information on Assessment pathways for IMGs seeking to qualify for medical registration in Australia.

• If found eligible – partially or substantially comparable – continue to PEP Specialist.
• If found ineligible – Apply for the Fellowship Support Program (FSP), the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program, or the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) if eligible.

Apply for medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA)

Accept Program Agreement and complete provider number form

• Complete general practice experience (6 months)
• Complete core units
• Complete workplace-based assessments

Complete PEP Specialist requirements. Refer to the handbooks for more information.

Enrol in RACGP exams once all exam eligibility requirements are met (partially comparable only)

Apply for RACGP Fellowship once Fellowship requirements are met

• As a Fellow of the RACGP, a GP can work unsupervised anywhere in Australia
• CPD requirements per year
