PEP Specialist Stream

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) should refer to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for information on Assessment pathways for IMGs seeking to qualify for medical registration in Australia.

Complete the Practice Experience Program (PEP) Specialist Stream Comparability Assessment

  • If found eligible – partially or substantially comparable – continue to PEP Specialist Stream
  • If found ineligible – Apply for Fellowship Support Program (FSP)

Obtain RACGP-Approved job offer

Refer to pages 5 – 6 of the PEP Specialist Stream Participant guide for more information on the process of how to obtain an RACGP approved job offer.

Apply for a medical registration

Apply for medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA)

Apply for the PEP Specialist Stream

Accept Program Agreement and complete provider number form

Participate in the PEP Specialist Stream

  • Complete general practice experience (6 months)
  • Complete core units
  • Complete workplace-based assessments

Complete PEP Specialist Stream

Enrol in RACGP exams

Enrol in RACGP exams once all exam eligibility requirements are met (partially comparable only)

Apply for RACGP Fellowship

Apply for RACGP Fellowship once Fellowship requirements are met

Awarded Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP)

Specialist GP

  • As a Fellow of the RACGP, a GP can work unsupervised anywhere in Australia
  • CPD requirements per triennium
