Dr Ahmad has been a rural procedural generalist most of his professional life. Since arriving in Australia in 2000, Dr Ahmad has been involved in general practice, medical education, primary health management and governance. He works in Sale, Gippsland. He is clinical lead for Wellington Respiratory centre and HeadtoHelp Wellington.
He is a GP supervisor with post-graduation in Health Professional Education. He is involved in medical education of students from University of Melbourne, Monash University, general practice registrars and international medical graduates. He has served many years as Director and then Chair of East Gippsland Primary Health Alliance and Rural Workforce Agency Victoria. He is a council member for both RACGP Victoria and Rural faculty. He has served as a deputy chair of RACGP Victoria and IMG Committee.
