MY APPLICATION

To apply for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Practice Experience Program Specialist (PEP SP) pathway you will need to sign up  for an RACGP member ID. This process takes approximately five minutes. Once you have an RACGP ID, you will have access to the online PEP Specialist application form.

Please read the PEP Specialist Application handbook, the PEP Specialist Comparability Assessment Guide, and the PEP Specialist Comparability Assessment eligibility criteria before applying for a comparability assessment.

RACGP medical assessors will review your comparability assessment application to determine comparability to an Australian-trained specialist general practitioner at the point of Fellowship.

Where the RACGP receives publicly available information that may inform the assessment decision, applicants will be given the opportunity to make a submission about the information.

On completion of the comparability assessment, applicants will be assessed as Substantially Comparable, Partially Comparable or Not Comparable. Applicants who are assessed as Substantially Comparable and Partially Comparable are eligible to apply for the PEP Specialist.

Applicants have been assessed as suitable to undertake the intended scope of practice, taking full responsibility for all patients, with limited oversight of their practice by a supervisor (peer review).

Applicants may apply for Fellowship of the RACGP upon meeting the requirements of the PEP Specialist – Entry Policy and the PEP Specialist Requirements for Fellowship Policy.

Applicants have been assessed as suitable to undertake a defined scope of practice in a supervised capacity and reach comparability within 24 months of FTE practice.

Applicants may apply for Fellowship of the RACGP upon meeting the requirements of the PEP Specialist – Entry Policy and the PEP Specialist Requirements for Fellowship Policy.

Applicants that do not meet the requirements of the PEP Specialist comparability criteria or who are assessed as unable to reach comparability within 24 months of FTE practice.

Applicants may be eligible for the Fellowship Support Program (FSP), the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program or the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS).

Please contact Ahpra for further guidance on your options for practising in Australia as a medical practitioner.
