Dealing With Depression

Delivered in collaboration with the Black Dog Institute, Dealing with depression is a highly interactive program that aims to provide general practitioners with a practical framework for diagnosing and managing depression.
The program uses case based learning to explore key challenges GPs experience when caring for patients with depression. Cases will be examined and effective strategies will be devised to address these challenges.

MATOD - Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence

New format Module 2

RACGP Victoria offers MATOD education for GPs wishing to utilise pharmacotherapy (methadone and >5 buprenorphine) in treatment planning for patients with opioid use disorder.

To be eligible for training, GPs must be registered with AHPRA and actively practicing in Victoria.

Course Prerequisites:
GPs must complete MATOD Module 1 first. Then during September, set aside two hours to complete Module 2 (Part A) online, before attending the new 4 hr interactive Module 2 workshop (Part B).

This session is presented by MATOD specialist GPs and accredited for 40 Category 1 QI&CPD points for 2017-2019 triennium.

A workshop discussing issues which may arise during patient consultations with the use of SafeScript.

RACGP Victoria's International Medical Graduate (IMG) and Drug and Alcohol Committees are pleased to present a 'Challenging consultations' workshop. The workshop will explore a range of difficult cases including drug seeking, aggressive and drug dependent patients through role play and practical strategies for dealing with these types of consultations. Effective communication techniques for patients when Safescript is used, will also be provided.

Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Bendigo

The 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for rural GPs' Active Learning Module (ALM) is designed to support rural GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by rural GPs and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day ALM will give general practice registrars and rural & remote GPs the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in rural general practice settings and utilise point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts.

The ALM is approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The ALM runs from 8.30am till 4.30pm and will be offered to RACGP members at $495 (incl. GST). Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
