Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence (MATOD)

Module 1 - Safer Opioid prescribing
ONLINE TRAINING

RACGP Victoria is offering online training with information and strategies for safer prescribing opioids. This training is a prerequisite for prescribers who want to attend MATOD Module 2.

Prescribers must be registered with AHPRA to be eligible for this training.

This education is an online session accredited for 4 Category 2 QI&CPD points for the 2017-2019 triennium.

Psychodynamic Principles for General Practitioners Part 1

Date: Saturday 6 April 2019

The in-depth doctor-patient relationship, depression and addictions: a one-day workshop to develop a detailed understanding of psychodynamic principles and their application in the treatment of common problems via focused psychological therapies.

Introducing deep psychology or psychodynamics of the doctor patient relationship, and important psychodynamic principles of transference and countertransference. Depression and addictions will be discussed, leaving practitioners with a deeper understanding of what is happening at motivational and unconscious levels when considering these disorders. Knowledge of these principals can help prevent complications and assist with planning appropriate therapeutic interventions. Please note this workshop is a pre-requisite for Parts 2 and 3.

RACGP PEP - ICSA Marking Training

As you may know, the first intake of PEP participants started in January 2019. We have further intakes this year and therefore require medical educators to review and mark the Initial Core Skills Analysis (ICSA) again. There have been some changes made to improve the ICSA process for the upcoming intakes and to support this the PEP team are running further training on the ICSA report. This training will provide attendees with 10 Category 2 RACGP QI&CPD points for the 2017-19 triennium. The learning outcomes for this session are: " Discuss the importance and purpose of ICSA reports " Analyse the quality of a report including how the principles of good feedback apply to the written form " Describe how to make justifiable assessments of performance using a marking rubric " Reflect on personal writing skills including any areas for improvement Please note, if you would like to be involved again in marking of the ICSA, you must attend this training.

Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence (MATOD)

RACGP Victoria offers MATOD education for GPs helping their patients safely manage their opioid dependence. Training enables attendees to prescribe pharmacotherapy to more than 5 patients and methadone.

To be eligible for training, attendees must practicing in Victoria, be supporting patients within six months of training, complete MATOD Module 1 online and be registered with AHPRA.

This activity is funded by the Victorian Government.

This education is an interactive session presented by MATOD specialist GPs accredited for 40 Category 1 QI&CPD points for the 2017-2019 triennium.

This highly interactive workshop aims to provide GPs with a comprehensive theoretical understanding of anxiety disorders together with an extensive range of skills and strategies to better manage anxiety. Clinical scenarios form the basis of learning as participants explore how anxiety disorders arise, how they are maintained and the role GPs can play in addressing these effectively.

Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - Lakes Entrance

The 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for rural GPs' Active Learning Module (ALM) is designed to support rural GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by rural GPs and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day ALM will give general practice registrars and rural & remote GPs the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in rural general practice settings and utilise point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts.

The ALM is accredited for 40 QI&CPD Category 1 points and is also approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The ALM runs from 8.30am till 4.30pm and will be offered to RACGP members at $495 (incl. GST). Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
