Wellbeing weekend

Designed by GPs for GPs, the Wellbeing weekend offers you the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate, while learning new skills and connecting with other like-minded GPs.

The weekend features a variety of educational workshops and sessions focusing on ways to minimise day-to-day stress and optimise the health, self care and wellbeing of you and your patients.

Set in the historic spa town of Hepburn Springs the program offers opportunities for networking as well as optional activities such as yoga, bushwalking and music performance.

Our keynote speakers include Dr Leanne Rowe, GP and co-author of 'Every Doctor: Healthier Doctors = Healthier Patients', and Dr Caroline Johnson, RACGP Victoria 2019 GP of the Year.

The RACGP Victoria International Medical Graduate (IMG) Committee present ‘Legal Aids’.

The workshop will help you identify and understand practice, professional and personal risks and develop strategies that can be implemented to manage them.

Specialist legal and clinical practitioners will provide practical strategies for manage common legal risks that are faced by new and overseas-trained GPs.

Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence (MATOD)

MATOD module 1 Safer Opioid Prescribing – Online and face-to-face workshops

RACGP Victoria is now offering Medication Treatment for Opioid Dependence (MATOD) module 1 online and via face-to-face workshops.

MATOD module 1 focuses on evidence-based practice and consultation approaches designed to help prevent, identify and manage problems arising from opioid prescribing.

This training is a prerequisite for prescribers who want to attend MATOD module 2.

Module 1 can be completed online with your RACGP membership number or you can register for a workshop by clicking on the date links below.

MATOD module 2

MATOD module 2 is now delivered via a blended approach:

Module 2: Part A – Online training will allow practitioners to learn about opioid use disorder and the pharmacology of buprenorphine and methadone.

Module 2: Part B – Face-to-face workshop is a four-hour interactive session of case-based discussion presented by MATOD specialist GPs.

The RACGP has launched faculty-based private Facebook groups. The RACGP Victoria group is a place for GPs to ask questions, seek support and share and receive up-to-date information. The RACGP encourages healthy, respectful debate. As such, all comments should be in line with the member code of conduct. Commenting is open to all RACGP members who are part of this Facebook group.

RACGP Specific Interests Business of General Practice will be holding its first Victorian networking event on Monday 23 March 2020.

These events are designed for GPs who are practice owners, or have an interest in practice ownership and management, to meet and share information.

Brainy women – Medicine and the mind

This weekend conference will address issues including the mental health of both doctors and patients, hormones and the brain, and mindfulness.

GPADD20 – Addiction issues in vulnerable populations

The General Practice in Addiction Conference (GPADD20) will explore addiction issues in vulnerable groups, such as refugees, transgender and the homeless.

Presented by the RACGP Victoria Drug and Alcohol Committee.
