Dr Yi (Peter) Cheng

Last updated 29 November 2022

Peter is a specialist general practitioner and accredited skin cancer physician. He graduated with honours from Monash University in 2013. Prior to working as a doctor, he worked as a pharmacist from 2008. He has now gained valuable experience seeing patients from both sides of their health journey.

Peter is passionate about patient health advocacy and a firm believer that strong strategic primary healthcare leads to overall patient wellness and reduction in long term strains on the existing health economy.

He understands that the healthcare space can be daunting, and at the best of times difficult, to navigate for anyone. He aims for the best possible outcome for his patients by eliminating all the medical jargon and striving to make the patient experience as smooth and pleasant as possible.

Peter is the clinical director of Elevate Medical, a new initiative he is heralding out in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. His clinical expertise extends to grassroots general practice and to a wider array of dermatological conditions. As a practitioner his focus is to attain holistic, pragmatic care, and in turn, to optimise long term patient outcomes. He feels privileged to look after those who trust him with their health and is very proud of the medicine he practices.

Peter strives to improve by learning the latest techniques and adopting the most up to date research to achieve the best care for his patients.
In the current climate of healthcare change since the pandemic, Peter is keen to utilise his skills to improve advocacy for his patients and reduce burnout of his colleagues in primary care.

When not working, Peter spends his time chasing after his young family at home. He is an avid photographer, loves tennis and is a self-proclaimed ‘watch’ geek at heart.
