If you are considering another ARST post not listed such as population health or sexual health you can submit an application to the Rural Censor at email@example.com to have a post approved, for the purposes of the FARGP. This application should demonstrate the theoretical and clinical components with details of the learning outcomes, assessment criteria and discipline appropriate supervision.
If you wish to submit applications for exemption prior to enrolment, this process may incur an administrative fee. This fee will be deducted from the enrolment fee, upon enrolment.
FARGP timeframe policy
FARGP candidates are given a maximum timeframe of four years (FTE) to complete the FARGP requirements.
To assist registrars in completing the FARGP requirements during their GP training, a further 12 months (FTE) from the RACGP Fellow date to complete the non-clinical requirements as a registrar is permitted. After this time registrars will be withdrawn from the FARGP and will need to re-enroll in the FARGP practising GP pathway.
A FARGP candidate will be withdrawn from RACGP Rural should they fail to complete:
- FARGP requirements within 12-months (FTE) of their RACGP Fellow date (registrars only)
- FARGP requirements within 4-years (FTE) of their enrolment date, without requesting a special circumstances extension RACGP Rural.
FARGP withdrawal policy
This policy relates to any activities undertaken as part of the Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP).
If the request to withdraw is received within seven days following confirmation of enrolment and prior to the first login to the FARGP Online Learning Platform, the candidate will be eligible to apply for a refund of the program fee less a $300 withdrawal administration fee.
If the request to withdraw is received more than seven days following confirmation of enrolment or after the first login to the FARGP Online Learning Platform, the withdrawal fee will be the entire program fee.

The RACGP Academic Misconduct Policy also applies to all areas of the FARGP.
