Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training

The RACGP Queensland Faculty is offering a number of limited places for Queensland GPs in Modified Monash Model (MMM) 2-7 the opportunity to complete Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST).

Each training package ($1279) will fully fund members to complete the FPS ST course provided by the RACGP Rural Faculty. This program is funded by the generosity of a Northern Australia Primary Health Limited (NAPHL) grant.

About the Online Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST)

RACGP Rural’s Online Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST) package provides GPs with essential training to enable them to become a GP provider of Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) and provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)-derived counselling to patients in their practice.

This flexible, fully online and accredited training package uses technology, peer learning groups and locally available resources to provide GPs with access to complete all the requirements of FPS ST, without leaving their home or practice.

 

Detailed course information

Access to the grant

Participants who wish to access funding for the Online Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST) must be an RACGP member currently working as a GP or GP in training in Queensland and have completed Level 1 Mental Health Skills Training.

This grant opportunity is only available to RACGP members who are practising in regional, rural, or remote areas MMM 2-7 in Queensland (MMM1 by special consideration) who intend to continue working in a rural Queensland MMM 2-7 location after completing the course.

To apply for funding, RACGP members must complete an online expression of interest form.

Members will only be able to access the grant once.

Applications are assessed by the RACGP and approved applicants will be accepted to the program.

Once approved by the RACGP, the applicant will have up to seven (7) business days to register for an available intake and to pay the full amount. Once you have completed the course, you will be refunded the full course cost of $1279.

By applying to access the FPS ST, the applicant provides consent for the RACGP to share information with third parties consistent with the purposes of assessing eligibility, delivering, and reporting the outcomes of the workshop.

Registrations and Cancellations

Once accepted and registered for the workshop, all cancellations or amendments must be made in writing to qld.bequest@racgp.org.au.

Participants are required to contact the RACGP with requests to withdraw from the course a minimum of seven (7) business days before the course date.

Participants who reschedule in writing at least seven business days in advance of the start of the course may be able to register for an alternative course, pending availability.

Completion of the program

To successfully complete FPS ST, participants will be required to complete all four modules of the course.

Grant funds will not be applied for partial completion of the course. If a participant does not complete the course requirements, course registration fees will not be refunded.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be provided with a Certificate of Completion and will also be required to complete an evaluation survey.

Application form submission

When applying for the FPS ST package you must declare that:

  • You have read the Terms and Conditions and meet the eligibility criteria.

  • You will adhere to all FPS ST program requirements as outlined by the RACGP.
  • You will notify the RACGP in writing at qld.bequest@racgp.org.au before the start of your scheduled intake should you need to cancel or amend your course participation and understand that you will not be refunded.
  • The information provided in your application is true and correct at the point of application.
