Yagila Wadamba Program

A crucial focus for the RACGP is to develop the 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce to assist in closing the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians’ and non-Indigenous Australians’ health outcomes.

As part of this commitment, RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health developed the Yagila Wadamba Program (meaning ‘learn to heal’), This biannual program is designed to empower and connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GP Registrars as they grow, lead and thrive in their medical careers.

The program concentrates on exam preparation and other key areas of GP training. Participants are able to network with their peers in a friendly and welcoming environment, while also taking advantage of the opportunity to hear and learn from medical educators and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GP Fellows.

Attendees are supported not only to perform at their best in the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP) exams, but also to advance confidently throughout their GP training journey. The program explores a range of AKT and KFP case scenarios in an interactive and culturally safe environment.

Registrars who plan to sit their AKT and/or KFP exams in 2026 or 2027 are encouraged to attend this program and priority is given to those with exams coming up soonest, followed by others in subsequent exams.

The Yagila Wadamba Program dates for 2026 will be released shortly.

IGPTN Workshop

The Indigenous General Practice Trainee Network (IGPTN) will also be hosting their face-to-face workshop from 1- 4 May 2025.

The IGPTN workshop is a welcoming and enriching experience designed to support GP registrars as they navigate their training journey. The program features engaging medical education sessions focused on clinical reasoning, learning planning, Medicare, and focused psychological therapies.

To help participants prepare with confidence, the workshop includes mock StAMPS and mock CCE exams, providing a safe space to become familiar with the format and explore any performance anxieties well ahead of the real assessments. You'll also hear updates from both ACRRM and RACGP on their training programs and the transition to college lead training.

Beyond the learning, IGPTN workshops offer meaningful opportunities to connect. You'll meet ACRRM and RACGP representatives and IGPTN Fellows who generously share their time to mentor, support, and teach. Social and cultural activities are woven throughout the program, helping us build strong connections with each other and with Country.

The next IGPTN Workshop will be held 1st – 4th May 2026.

Registration will be open shortly.
