Yagila Wadamba Program

A crucial focus for the RACGP is to develop the 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce to assist in closing the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians’ and non-Indigenous Australians’ health outcomes.

As part of this commitment, RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health developed the Yagila Wadamba Program (meaning ‘learn to heal’), an annual support program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GP Registrars.

The program concentrates on exam preparation and other key areas of GP training. Participants are able to network with their peers in a friendly and welcoming environment, while also taking advantage of the opportunity to hear and learn from medical educators and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GP Fellows.

Attendees are supported to not only perform at their best in the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP) exams, but to thrive throughout their GP training journey.

The RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander faculty will be delivering Key Feature Problem (KFP) and Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) exam preparation workshop for those sitting the 2025.2 or planning to sit the 2026.1 or 2026.2 AKT and KFP exams.

Facilitated by Dr Josie Guyer, RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Faculty Censor, Dr Sharnti Caulley, GP National Assessment Advisor - AKT and Dr Emilie Pitter, GP National Assessment Advisor - KFP, the sessions will discuss different AKT and KFP case scenarios in an interactive and culturally safe environment.

IGPTN Workshop

The Indigenous General Practice Trainee Network (IGPTN) will also be hosting their face-to-face workshop adjacent to our May Yagila Wadamba Program from 2-5 May. We have co-ordinated the timing and location so that you can attend both!

This IGPTN workshop will include medical education sessions on clinical reasoning, and planning learning, Medicare and focussed psychological therapies. We will have our usual mock StAMPS and mock CCE giving you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the style of these clinical exams and explore any performance anxieties you might have well before the real thing. There will be updates from both ACRRM and RACGP on their training programs and transition to college lead training.

IGPTN workshops are a great way to network with college representatives and our IGPTN Fellows who come along to mentor, support and teach. There will be social and cultural activities to help us connect to each other and to country.

If you would register for this workshop, please complete this registration form.
