Refresh your cognitive behavioural therapy skills

RACGP Rural’s Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) skills for general practice is a fully online course that provides GPs with foundational CBT skills to use in their general practice for the treatment of common mental health illnesses.
 
This online course will take approximately six hours to complete and can be accessed via gplearning.

The course is comprised of six interactive learning modules each taking approximately one hour to complete.

  1. Introduction to CBT
  2. Assessment, formulation and treatment planning
  3. CBT in action: focus on depression
  4. CBT in action: focus on anxiety
  5. Challenges in CBT
  6. Additional considerations

This course is ideally for GPs who have completed Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST) and would like to refresh on foundational principles of CBT.

At the end of this course, GPs will be able to:

  • describe the interactions of feelings, thoughts and behaviour
  • list the key principles of the CBT approach
  • recognise the difference automatic thoughts, assumptions and core beliefs
  • describe the role of self-management in CBT
  • outline the typical structure of a CBT session.

This course is $495 for RACGP members.

CPD


This course is a CPD Approved Activity under the RACGP CPD Program and is eligible for 6 CPD hours and accredited by the General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC) as a MH CPD and FPS CPD course.
