Policy Update Notice - AGPT registrar handbook

This notice is to advise that the RACGP has updated the AGPT registrar handbook. The updated handbook (version 15) will come into immediate effect, superseding the previous corresponding policies as of Friday, 16 February 2024

What has changed?

Updated sections Change Rationale
Recognition of prior learning and experience
  • Updated information about application kit for RPLE.
  • An RPLE application kit is now avaliable for access via training coordinators. Ensuring registrars know where they can access the kit will enable them to access appropriate information for RPLE.
Overseas doctors
  • Information about 19AB exemptions has been updated
  • Changes from the Department of Health and Aged Care mean the RACGP manages consideration of 19AB obligations when transfers between training streams are requested. This section has been updated to reflect the correct process.
Assessment of placement
  • New section has been added
  • There is now information for registrars about the assessment of placement process for 2024.
Educational support
  • Revision of content to align it with existing resources
  • There has been a review of the content avaliable relating to educational support and remeidation. This seciotn has been changed to provide a single point of information with relevant links for registrars.
Sitting exams while on approved leave
  • Update to reference process for those on parental leave
  • It is the RACGP’s intention to support registrars who would like to sit exams while on a period of approved leave. The RACGP requests registrars to advise their medical educator to ensure we can provide the necessary support for exam preparation.
