The RACGP has provided a submission to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia on the Consultation regulation impact statement: Registration standard: Endorsement for scheduled medicines – designated registered nurse prescriber. The RACGP supports Option 1 – ‘Retain the status quo prescribing practice.’ However, RACGP could potentially consider Option 2a in areas of identified need and subject to more detail on specific models and the conditions being treated. The RACGP does not support registered nurse prescribing of schedule 8 medicines.
