The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners welcomes the opportunity to make a submission to the National Heart Foundation Australia's public consultation: Coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring.
The RACGP provides many comments and questions on specific recommendations put forward by the National Heart Foundation Australia. In particular a detailed response to the proposed testing algorithm is provided and it is strongly recommended that the algorithm is amended to include a "not doing" the test option.
The RACGP advises that in order to assist health professionals to weigh up the best course of action for particular patient groups, it would be very helpful to include a description of the risks and benefits that were considered during the formulation of the recommendations.
