Date: 7 June 2019
The Allied Health Reference Group (the Reference Group) was established in 2018 to make recommendations to the MBS Review Taskforce on MBS items relating to allied health services.
The Reference Group released its draft Report outlining draft recommendations for stakeholder feedback in March 2019.
The RACGP response to the Reference Group’s Report:
- highlights the importance of coordinating care through a patient’s usual GP to prevent fragmentation and support continuity of care
- supports the recommendation to introduce Shared Medical Appointments facilitated by GPs and involving, where relevant, other members of the GP-led team
- calls for further consultation on the addition of non-dispensing pharmacists to the list of eligible allied health professionals.
