The RACGP was pleased to provide a submission to Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency’s (Ahpra) review of the Criminal history registration standard. The standard is being reviewed to make sure it is up to date and still relevant today. This work is part of Ahpra’s blueprint for reform to strengthen public safety in health regulation. The criminal history standard sets out 10 factors used by decision-makers to decide if a person’s criminal history is relevant to the practice of their profession.

A key concern identified by RACGP members was the requirement to declare all offences, regardless of severity, when applying for or renewing medical registration.
