The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists _Standards for Perioperative Medicine_ aim to enhance patient care and safety while minimizing any ambiguities or inconsistencies but are not intended to serve as complete manual on how to practice Perioperative Medicine.

RACGP feedback notes the importance of multidisciplinary teams, which include General Practitioners, as part of perioperative medicine and raised several recommendations for ANZCA’s consideration, including:

  • expanding detail on multidisciplinary teams to be less hospital centric
  • having a more specific and meaningful focus on quality improvement
  • ensuring supporting materials are well-suited and up-to-date.
