Review of Health Services (Health Service Establishments) Regulations 2013 – consultation discussion paper feedback

Last updated 22 September 2023

Date: 21 September 2023

The Health Services (Health Service Establishments) Regulations 2013 (the Regulations) made under the Health Services Act 1988 (the Act) set minimum requirements for the safety and quality of patient care in Victoria's private hospitals, day procedure centres and mobile health services.

The current Regulations will expire on 1 September 2024 unless replaced with a new set of Regulations. (They were previously scheduled to expire on 3 September 2023 but were extended to allow more time for review and consultation). To inform the review of the Regulations, the Victorian Department of Health has prepared a discussion paper to seek stakeholder feedback. This paper explores whether the Regulations remain fit for purpose and seeks suggestions on how they might be improved.

Feedback was invited on the topics and options discussed in the paper; this submission constitutes the RACGPs feedback.
