Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australian men. Despite a high survival rate a significant sub-group of patients report poor quality of life related to treatment side effects. Improving the patients experience and outcomes is an important role of the general practitioner. Awareness of risk stratification, surveillance, and diagnostics pathways together with supportive care needs together with new approaches will enable the best possible experience and care for patients.
