MyMedicare is coming, but what does it mean for GPs? The RACGP, in partnership with the NSW/ACT PHNs invites general practice to attend a webinar focussing on the proposed MyMedicare initiative, which is set to roll out from 1 October 2023.

This session follows on from the first webinar and will provide a ‘deeper dive’ into the benefits and impacts of MyMedicare on general practice and patients. It will include:

  • a brief recap of My Medicare
  • How MyHealth Record will work with MyMedicare
  • Support for MyMedicare and PRODA
  • PHN perspective of MyMedicare
  • MyMedicare and PRODA from a Practice Manager perspective

Presenters

Simon Cotterell
First Assistant Secretary, Primary Care Division, Department of Health and Aged Care

is the First Assistant Secretary of the Primary Care Division in the Department of Health. Simon has worked for over 30 years in government. Over the last 19 years in Health, Simon has led work on primary care reform; health payments integrity; global and regional health issues; drug, alcohol and tobacco policy; health financing; health security; the blood supply; organ and tissue donation; and a range of other health system issues. Prior to Health, Simon worked for a decade as a policy adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in various areas of social policy and international relations.

Brendan Moon
General Manager, Health Delivery Transformation Division Services Australia

Brendan is currently General Manager of the Health Delivery Transformation Division where he is leading large programmes of work to modernise the delivery of health services and identify future strategies for health services, driving, forward the Birth of a Child initiative in partnership with the ACT Government and steering the ongoing responses and strategy development associated with the myGov audit.

Dr Steve Hambleton
GP & Chief Clinical Adviser, Australian Digital Health Agency

Dr Steve Hambleton is a General Practitioner at Kedron in Brisbane. He is a former State and Federal President of the Australian Medical Association. Dr Hambleton is the Chief Clinical Adviser to the Australian Digital Health Agency having served as the final Chairman of the National e-Health Transition Authority (NeHTA). He has served on health reform committees including the Medicare Benefits Schedule Review, the Primary Health Care Advisory Group, he co-chaired the Primary Health Reform Steering Group with Walid Jammal which led to the 10 year plan and most recently the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce chaired by the current Minister for Health and Aged Care the Hon Mark Butler.

Lizz Reay
CEO, Nepean-Blue Mountains PHN, Chair NSW/ACT PHN CEO group

Is the CEO of Wentworth Healthcare Limited- which is the provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network. Lizz has experience working in Medicare Locals and Divisions of General Practice. She has a background in clinical and public health nutrition in Australia and the UK and has worked in primary care for over 25 years. Lizz is the current Chair of the NSW/ACT PHN CEOs forum which is working with RACGP to deliver these MyMedicare webinars.

Kim Weeks
Practice Manager

Kim have been in many roles in general practice since 1995, from a Practice Nurse, Receptionist and eventually to a Practice Manager in 2000. In 2009, she was awarded the inaugural NSW Practice Manager of the year and GP Synergy RACGP Southeastern NSW Practice Manager of the year Award in 2018. In 2015 she became a partner of the Marima Medical Clinic, and later transitioned as a co-Director of a 9 doctors 5 nurses and 13 support staff.
