A crucial focus for RACGP is to develop the Australian Indigenous health workforce to assist in closing the gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians’ and non-Indigenous Australians’ health outcomes.

As part of this commitment, RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health developed the Indigenous Fellowship Excellence Program (IFEP). The Indigenous Fellowship Excellence Program (IFEP) which has been co-named by the Wurundjeri Council Yagila Wadamba (meaning ‘learn to heal’) is an annual support program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander GP Registrars.

The two-day workshop is held in May every year and concentrates on exam performance and other key areas of GP training. Participants are able to network with their peers in a friendly and welcoming environment, while also taking advantage of the opportunity to hear and learn from medical educators and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander GP Fellows. Attendees are supported to not only perform at their best in the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and Key Feature Problem (KFP) exams, but to thrive throughout their GP training journey.

Key facilitators and founders of the program Dr Tim Senior (Medical Advisor) and Dr Hung Nguyen (Censor) deliver invaluable information and guidance in tackling the AKT and KFP alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Fellows

If you would like to know more about the program and/or register your interest in IFEP, please contact RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health via email or phone: 03 8699 0528
