Education Workforce Committee

The Education and Workforce Committee (EWC) is a sub-committee of the RACGP Board, and its purpose is to ensure quality, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement in general practice training, education and assessment. The committee provides oversight to the processes by which curricular and education policy decisions are made and implemented. The EWC meets approximately five times per year.

 

 
  • Shape and monitor the development, implementation and review of the College’s strategy for lifelong education, assessment and training
  • Provide advice to the education and training risk management plan in relation to quality, safety, well-being and pastoral care, academic integrity, and adverse events
  • Approve the submission of accreditation reports to the relevant accreditation body, approve accreditation or reaccreditation of training organisations and report to the Board on the risks, issues, and resolutions of conditions
  • Monitor training program delivery against Key Performance Indicators as delegated by the RACGP Board
  • Monitor the Post Fellowship recognition framework and its implementation
  • Approve education policy, ensure their implementation, and monitor compliance with current policies
  • Provide expert advice to the Board, CEO and management on the College’s education and training programs including AGPT, FSP and CPD for Fellows
  • Monitor workforce distribution through RACGP training programs and pathways, and report on progress in meeting any Department of Health targets in this area
  • Monitor training practice development and accreditation in areas of workforce need and ensure that the RACGP has a defensible approach to practice selection and placement
  • Provide strategic advice on possible reforms to medical education and training in support of Australia’s future health workforce needs, including any issues referred to the Committee by the Board
  • Consider and report on any matter referred to it by any educational committees, councils, working groups, reference and steering committees.

National Accreditation Committee - monitors and reports on the accreditation of training sites and supervisors, and the accreditation of organisations delivering training towards Fellowship of RACGP or the International Conjoint Fellowship. The National Accreditation Committee meets quarterly to review summaries and reports on training site and supervisor accreditations, critical incidents, and adverse events significant to training site monitoring, evaluation of remote supervision processes and evaluate all accreditation systems. The committee evaluates effectiveness, manages issues arising and ensures alignment with the standards and RACGP accreditation requirements with the AMC.

International Medical Graduates Committee - provides strategic direction, governance and has oversight of the RACGP International Medical Graduate (IMG) support program’s initiatives and activities.

Post-Vocational Education Committee - acts as a key interface for discussion and coordination between the departments and faculties responsible for the development of post vocational education and links the educational aspects of CPD to education services and the educational thought processes and strategy that spans the life cycle of general practice.
