Working at the interface of primary and tertiary care, I want to advocate for the role of GPs and ensure that all sectors of the health care system see our value to the community.
To promote and facilitate a one system approach for health care in our communities.
The longitudinal relationships with our patients across multiple generations. I have also benefited from the wonderful flexibility of this job in raising my own family and diversity of opportunities of my career as a GP.
After treading water career-wise for a number of years with 3 young children. It was good to take on my first registrar and realise I had the confidence and experience to pass on something useful. And in a way give back. I benefited over the years from some fantastic supervisors.
There are so many opportunities to use your skills as a GP. If you’re not enjoying what you are doing, find a different path.
My ideal job would involve being a GP 3-days a week and a florist 2-days a week.
