In this special instalment of the Rural Health Webinar Series, Dr Sue Page and David Hodgson will explore key concepts to assist rural GPs when working with patients and/or families needing support with NDIS processes. This webinar will not be recorded.

Learning outcomes

  1. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
  2. Identify eligibility criteria, funding and provision of supports to people with disability.
  3. Discuss the role of rural GPs in providing good disability evidence for access and planning of NDIS services and processes.
  4. Identify common conditions likely to meet disability requirements.

Dr Sue Page

Dr Sue Page is a rural Fellow and former President of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia who has held a variety of State and Federal Advisory roles including for Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol, Medical Indemnity, Pharmacy Professional Programs, Medical Workforce, Medical Services and the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission. She is a Strategic Adviser for the National Disability Insurance Agency within the Service Design and Improvement Division.

David Hodgson

David Hodgson is a Senior Engagement Officer with the Qld Community Engagement and Inclusion team, working for the NDIS since 2019 initially with Provider Engagement, in previous roles he has worked across various health promotion and mental health projects in community, non-government organisations, primary health care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services sector for over 20 years.
