Dr Bernard Shiu
Director of Geelong Long Covid Clinic and Banksia Medical Centre in Newcomb and Torquay

Dr Bernard Shiu is the Director of Geelong Long Covid Clinic and Banksia Medical Centre in Newcomb and Torquay. He was the winner of the prestigious RACGP GP of the Year Award in 2020 in Victoria. His clinic was awarded the Victorian Clinic of the year in 2023. He was invited to speak at the recent Long Covid Conference in Melbourne on Primary Care management pathway for Long Covid. He is also a member of the National Clinical Evidence Task Force. Dr Shiu established the Australia first community based Long Covid Clinic back in June 2022. His current main clinical and research interests are management of Covid and Long Covid conditions.

Prof. David Watters
Director of Surgery, Safer Care Victoria

Prof David Watters is the Director of Surgery at Safer Care Victoria, leading the Perioperative Learning Health Network within the Centre for Clinical Excellence. David is a past President of RACS and since 2000 has been Professor of Surgery for Barwon Health and Deakin University. David is actively engaged in advocacy on a global scale, having spent almost 20 years in developing countries including Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Zambia and South Africa.

Dr Lance Emerson
CEO, Victorian Agency for Health Information

Lance Emerson is the Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI), based within the Victorian Department of Health. Lance works with the VAHI team to drive improvements in safety and quality in Victorian health services through the provision of analytics and high quality health service performance information. Lance has a passion for development and maintenance of information systems to improve consumer care, and has a PhD in the use of clinical indicators to guide better care and improve health outcomes. He has extensive experience in running specialist health organisations, having most recently been CEO of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and prior to that, CEO of the Australian Research and Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY). Lance is also a Board Director of Bicycles for Humanity, and the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood (formerly Red Cross Blood Service).
