NSW Health update on e-cigarettes and young people

The Australian Government announced a package of reforms to regulate e-cigarettes in May 2023. NSW Health is rapidly progressing work in response to these announcements to address the needs of young people and others who use e-cigarettes, as well as health professionals, parents and carers, and schools.
This webinar will provide an overview of key work, including an outline of recently developed clinical guidelines to support young people to quit vaping, an update on the next phase of the NSW Health anti-vaping campaign and updates to the ‘Do you know what you’re vaping’? toolkit materials. It will also provide an opportunity for GPs to ask questions to the panel and raise issues related to e-cigarettes.

- Discuss the priority work NSW Health is undertaking in response to the recent Australian Government announcements on e-cigarette reforms
- Summerise the resources available to support GPs in delivering care to people who use e-cigarettes.

Dr Lyndon Bauer
FRACGP, Central Coast LHD
Lyndon is a GP who works on the Central Coast in New South Wales and is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer with the University of Newcastle and has worked part time in health promotion since 1993. Lyndon first started his smoking cessation interest in 1992 and he has been working in the area ever since.
Dr Caroline Sharpe
Senior Medical Advisor, NSW Ministry of Health
Caroline is a public health physician and Senior Medical Advisor in the Office of the Chief Health Officer, NSW Ministry of Health. She is currently supporting priority e-cigarettes work in the Centre for Population Health’s Tobacco and E-Cigarette Control Unit.
Gemma Hearnshaw
Portfolio Manager, Tobacco Control and Smoking Cessation, Cancer Institute NSW
Gemma is the Anti-vaping Portfolio Manager at Cancer Institute NSW and has worked in tobacco and vaping space for the last five years. Gemma also has a long history in marketing and communications.
