Workplace law reforms (and payroll tax update) for practices

Join Avant Law Partner and Head of Employment & Workplace, Stephen Schoninger, for an overview of the new workplace laws coming into effect over 2023 and practical recommendations for what practices need to do to comply with the new laws. Stephen will also provide a brief update on managing payroll tax risks for medical practices.

Cathy has been working at Spencer Road Family Practice, Huntingdale WA, for 25 years since she obtained her RACGP Fellowship. She has been a joint owner of the practice for 10 years and a principal supervisor for RACGP registrar trainees in the practice.

Stephen Schoninger
Partner, Head of Employment and Workplace, Avant Law

Stephen leads the employment and workplace law practice at Avant Law, based in Sydney. Stephen has over 20 years’ experience practising exclusively in employment, industrial relations and discrimination laws. Stephen is called on for his ability to plainly advise on and pragmatically apply legal principles to manage and resolve complex issues arising in the workplace.

Angela Mason
Risk Advisor for Avant

Angela has extensive experience managing practices of various disciplines and sizes. A past State and National AAPM President, Fellow, Life Member & Certified Practice Manager. Angela has experience as a Board Member and expert committee member for multiple bodies in healthcare. Angela has experience as an accreditation surveyor and as an assessor and trainer for University of New England Partnerships, she is a Registered Nurse with a Post Grad Certificate in Nursing Management, a Diploma in Practice Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Angela has a history of commitment to ensuring health care is delivered safely with quality outcomes in a financially viable environment that is a desirable place in which to work.
