Clinical Skills Workshop
Emergency Dental Treatment

Session Plan:
The emergency detail clinical skills session will comprise of a presentation and a clinical practical skills component. The lecture will cover the epidemiology of dental trauma, examining types of injury and classification alongside the management of crown fractures, luxations and avulsions. The practical section will focus on the management of crown fractures and the splinting of luxated/avulsed teeth with GPs applying short-term stabilisation techniques using dental models. 

Learning Outcomes:
1. Classify dental trauma and the rationale for treatment of different injuries
2. Assess dental injury and develop a basic management plan for a range of conditions
3. Outline expected outcomes of dental trauma, ongoing management and follow up care with a dentist
