Introduction To Point-of-care Ultrasound - RDAQ Cairns

Attend an RDAQ Annual Conference pre-conference workshop on the 'Introduction to point-of-care ultrasound for rural GPs' sponsored by RACGP.

The Active Learning Module (ALM) is designed to support rural GPs to increase their understanding of the applications of point-of-care ultrasound in the diagnostic process. The training is delivered by rural GPs and sonographers who are experienced in using ultrasound in their practice environment.

This full-day ALM will give general practice registrars and rural & remote GPs the opportunity to identify practical applications of ultrasound technology in rural general practice settings and utilise point of care ultrasound devices under the guidance of experts. It is accredited for 40 QI&CPD Category 1 points and is also approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program.

The RDAQ pre-conference workshop runs from 8.00am till 4.30pm and will be offered to delegates at $770 (incl. GST). Register on the RDAQ website.

Psychodynamic Principles - Part 2

Focussed psychological strategies for GPs a one-day workshop designed to impart a detailed understanding of psychodynamic principles and their application in the treatment of common problems via focused psychological therapies.

This workshop covers: Reinforcing the important principles of Part 1, the psychodynamics of resistance to improvement (defences) in all its manifestations in psychological treatment, understanding the anxiety disorders: new psychodynamic principles will be introduced and explored, and also previously discussed principles and their uses in anxiety disorders.
Pre-requisite: Psychodynamic principles for GPs Part 1.

This workshop is accredited for 40 Category 1 QI&CPD points for the 2017-19 triennium.

CPR Workshop - Brisbane - Tuesday 9 July 2019

This two-hour workshop, facilitated by BLS First Aid, will incorporate HLTAID001 'Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation' in accordance with the 2016 ARC Guidelines.

This workshop will cover:

  • DRSABCD Action Plan
  • management of the breathing, unresponsive casualty
  • management of the non-breathing, unresponsive casualty
  • resuscitation of an adult, child and infant
  • introduce the use of a defibrillator.

GPs who attend this workshop will meet the CPR requirement for the 2017-19 QI&CPD triennium.


*Please note: To complete assessment of CPR you must be physically able to perform two minutes of continuous CPR on the floor. If you are unable to do so due to physical limitations, please contact us to discuss your options to meet your CPR requirement.

Psychodynamic Principles - Part 3 - Brisbane

Date: Saturday 27 July 2019
Mind and body: a one-day workshop designed to impart a detailed understanding of psychodynamic principles and their application in the treatment of common problems via focused psychological therapies.

This workshop is devoted to the mind-body interaction, covering: somatization and how the mind-body interaction results in symptoms and disease, and the psychodynamics of eating disorders and body image disorders. Understanding the psychodynamics of both mental and general illness, especially chronic illness and the role of the unconscious and conscious meaning the patient ascribes to various types of disorders and their medical treatment. What it means to be mentally well and the psychodynamics of wellness - a topic that has particular relevance not only to patients but also to GPs. Pre-requisite: Psychodynamic principles for GPs Part 1.
