About the RACGP President
The President is the face and voice of the RACGP. The President is the RACGP’s main spokesperson and will engage regulators and the media on a wide range of issues. The President shapes the RACGP’s advocacy efforts and provides the RACGP’s voice through Australia’s ever evolving health environment. The role requires a commitment of at least 25 hours a week.
The President is an RACGP Fellow elected according to Part 7.2 of the Constitution. The President holds office for two years and cannot serve consecutive terms. The President can serve non-consecutive terms. Presidential elections are held in accordance with the RACGP Elections Policy.
How the RACGP President is Elected
The President is elected by way of a ballot of eligible members on a preferential voting basis. Even numbered years are currently election years for the President. A call for nominations is made to notify of an upcoming election.

Ballot for RACGP President
The presidential campaign period will run between 4 August 2020 and 12 noon, Wednesday 19 August 2020. During this time, Presidential candidates will be able to provide information to members about their aspirations for the role and the College. Meet the Candidates.
Candidates will participate in a Presidential Q&A forum on 17 August 2020 at 7pm. More information is available here.
Voting for RACGP President will open at 12 noon, Thursday 20 August 2020 and close at 12 noon, Monday 31 August 2020.
