Joint Consultative Committee on Radiology and Radiography

Last updated 11 July 2019

About this committee

Government legislation was introduced at 1 January 2001 for GPs practising R‑type Radiology which made it compulsory for these GPs to undertake continuing professional development in this area to continue to receive Medicare rebates.

The RACGP entered into a contract with the Department of Heath and Aging (DoHA) to monitor GP compliance with the radiology requirement. The JCCRR meets to discuss this legislation and monitor arrangements for Continuing professional development with input by the RACGP QI&CPD Unit.

The membership of the JCCRR is two Specialist Radiologists from RANZCR and two GP Radiologists nominated by the RACGP. ACRRM reports separately to Government on Radiology and Radiography compliance for its members.
