Supervision and Medical Education committee

The Supervision and Medical Education committee is intended to be an RACGP representative voice for the work of supervisors and medical educators within and outside the RACGP, assist the Board and Executive to better support supervisors and medical educators needs, and advise the work of RACGP teams which provide professional development,  support and networking opportunities for supervisors and medical educators.


The committee promotes the profile of supervisors and medical educators both within and external to the RACGP by:

  • Committee members representing the RACGP on matters concerning supervisors and medical educators with external stakeholders.
  • providing advice and recommendations to the RACGP Board and the Executive team regarding the work of supervisors and medical educators within the RACGP, ensuring their perspectives are considered in decision-making processes.
  • providing oversight of the development and delivery of professional development and a career progression program for supervisors and medical educators. This includes the delivery of the supervisor curriculum and professional development program and the work of the medical educator education and support home project.
  • overseeing the development and delivery of networking opportunities for supervisors and medical educators including national conference options for supervisors and medical educators.


The committee comprises:

  • An independent co-opted Chair, this independent Chair is to be:
    • An RACGP Fellow
    • An experienced supervisor or medical educator
    • Not an employee of the RACGP
    • Approved by the RACGP Board on the recommendation of the People, Culture, Nominations and Remuneration Committee.
  • An RACGP Board director appointed by the RACGP Board. Experience as a supervisor and/or medical educator desirable.
  • The National Clinical Lead (NCL) Supervisor and Practice Support and Education.
  • The NCL Medical Educator Professional Development.
  • Two (2) supervisor liaison officers (SLOs) nominated by the regional supervisor liaison group.
  • A regional AGPT clinical 1 medical educator nominated by a regional director of training.
  • A Fellowship Support Program (FSP) clinical 1 medical educator nominated by the NCL FSP.
  • A practice manager liaison officer (PMLO) nominated by the PMLO group.
  • A registrar medical educator.
