Dr Abhishek Verma

BSc(Med) MBBS MS FRACGP

I practice in southeast Melbourne, with clinical interests in minor procedures and excisions, mental health, women's health, and child health. My broader medical interests include medical regulation (currently I'm the only GP appointed to the Victorian Medical Board), clinical governance, rural health (I serve on the Board of two rural health services) and medical education (I am a conjoint academic at University of Newcastle and also teach Monash medical students).

I have been involved with the RACGP as an elected member of the Victoria Faculty Council since 2017, having transitioned from a registrar to New Fellow. My other roles include serving as the New Fellow representative on the RACGP Academic Council of Assessment. I am a current RACGP examiner and have also been a QA examiner for the RACGP OSCE exam. Furthermore, I am current member of the RACGP Expert Committee for Standards in General Practice.

Outside of medicine, I am a notorious over-consumer of gourmet food, which I enjoy indulging in with my wife and two young daughters. I am also an avid fan of cricket and aviation history. I spend a considerable amount of time discussing medicine (and life) with my two younger brothers, who are also both doctors (non-GP specialists).
