Dr Yota Yoshimitsu - BMBS (Deakin) BOptom (Melb) PGDipAdvClinOptom (Melb) FRACGP FACO AMA(M) completed his medical and optometry training at Deakin University and the University of Melbourne, and practices in both Geelong and Melbourne, providing comprehensive, patient-centred care and supporting people across all stages of life, from childhood through to older age.
Fluent in Japanese, he is one of the few Japanese-speaking GPs practising in Victoria and has a strong interest in improving access to culturally appropriate healthcare for diverse communities.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Yoshimitsu is actively involved in training and mentoring the next generation of general practitioners. He works as a Medical Educator and GP Supervisor with the RACGP, contributing to high-quality education and professional development for GP registrars.
Dr Yoshimitsu is currently co-chair of the RACGP Victoria New Fellows Committee, where he supports newly Fellowed GPs as they navigate the transition into independent practice, addressing both the professional challenges and opportunities of this important career stage.
Outside of medicine, Dr Yoshimitsu is an accomplished violist and performs regularly in a string quartet as well as with several orchestras, including Corpus Medicorum and the Australian Doctors Orchestra. His musical pursuits reflect a long-standing passion for collaboration, creativity, and balance beyond clinical life.
