Not one for sitting on the sidelines, Dr Philip George nominated for the RACGP Vic Faculty Council in 2024 to help strengthen the RACGP’s support for General Practitioners, working toward a brighter future for both GPs and the communities they serve.
Dr George is a committed General Practitioner whose career focuses on making healthcare more innovative, accessible, and impactful. His role as a Staff Specialist with the Hospital in the Home program at Monash Health places him at the intersection of hospital and community-based models of care. In this capacity, he emphasises the value of community-focused generalism in an effective health system, and highlights the fundamental role of General Practitioners in navigating this space.
He has a deep interest in policy, governance, and training. He has held several senior leadership roles in tertiary healthcare, and is currently a Director of Clinical Training at Monash Health. He is also an assessor for the Australian Medical Council’s Work-Based Assessment program for International Medical Graduates. He provides mentorship and training for both Doctors in Training and their supervisors, and aims to serve as a role model for junior doctors considering specialist training with the RACGP.
As a Vic Faculty Council Member for the RACGP, he is committed to amplifying the voices of GPs across Victoria. He advocates for stronger connections between hospital and primary care systems and works to ensure that General Practitioners are recognised, supported, and funded to deliver holistic, high-quality care.
When not working or studying, Dr George can be found travelling, planning his next trip, or spending time with his Golden Retriever.
