New program guidelines commenced from 1 January 2021. These guidelines will provide information on all of the updated eligibility requirements for the program and supersede the current 2011 guidelines.
The key reforms are:
- The adoption of Modified Monash (MMM) Model categories 3-7
- Locums must conduct their placements in MMM 3-7 areas to be eligible for the grant
- Overseas training courses are no longer eligible for a grant
- Principal clinical practice must be physically located in a MMM 3-7 region.
