Dr Tim Mooney AM was brought up in George Town, he returned and joined the practice in February 1982 and has been in general practice since. He is married to Dr Louise Phillips (retired) and has four children, including Dr Caroline Mooney.
Tim likes all aspects of rural general practice and loves living here. Outside of the medical practice he enjoys his family, grandchildren, fishing and outdoor activities. He is heavily involved in the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Royal Flying Doctors Service and Rural Doctors Association of Tasmania. With the other doctors at the practice Tim is a visiting medical officer at the public George Town Hospital and at the Ainslie Nursing Home, Low Head and the George Town Council. He has been the company medical officer for the Bell Bay Aluminium Smelter since June 1984.
In June 2017 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for “significant service to medicine through a range of multiple practice roles, to doctors in rural and remote areas, and to the community”.
