Scholarship opportunities

RACGP Queensland is offering limited,  heavily-discounted places for Queensland GPs in Modified Monash Model (MMM) 2-7 to complete GP ALS2 in Brisbane on 20th & 21st February 2026.

The training will be held at Francis Baron Burnett Centre, Greenslopes Clinical School, Newdegate Street, Greenslopes, QLD 4120, on 20th & 21st February 2026.

Each scholarship will reduce registration to $100 (full value $1850) to complete the course with RACGP. You will be required to register and pay the full amount. Once the workshop has been completed and you receive your certificate of completion , you will be refunded $1750. This program is funded by the generosity of the Dr Bruce Roberts’ bequest, donated to RACGP Queensland to develop, and support ongoing education initiatives for GPs living and working in regional, rural, and remote Queensland communities.

About GP ALS2 workshop

Tailored for rural and remote general practice, our ARC-accredited course provides you with vital clinical emergency medicine training.

Join us at our two-day Advanced Life Support Level 2 (ALS2) course to learn essential emergency medicine skills with rurally contextualised simulations and skills training. Meet your health service ALS2 requirement and gain 26 CPD hours. 

With only 24 spots and an exceptional 1:3 instructor-to-participant ratio, you'll receive personalised, hands-on training from experienced GP instructor.

Learning outcomes

  1. Apply the ABCDE approach when assessing and treating a deteriorating patient in case-based discussions/simulations.
  2. Perform effective basic life support, including delivering appropriate safe defibrillation therapy using a manual mode defibrillator.
  3. Demonstrate management of a patient using the standardised approach of the Australian Resuscitation Council cardiac arrest algorithm.
  4. Manage complex emergency scenarios specific to a general practice setting.

Access to the grant

Participants who wish to access bequest funding for the Introduction to GP ALS 2 for rural GPs must be an RACGP member currently living and working in Queensland as a general practitioner, GP Registrar or GP-in-Training.

The bequest scholarships are only available to RACGP members who are practising in rural/remote areas MMM 2-7 in Queensland who intend to continue working in a rural Queensland MMM 2-7 location after completing the course.

To apply for funding, RACGP members must complete an online expression of interest form.

Applications are assessed by the RACGP and approved applicants will be accepted to the program.

Once approved by the RACGP, the applicant will have up to seven (7) business days to register for an available intake and to pay the full amount. Once you have completed the workshop, you will be refunded for all amounts paid over $100 

By applying to access GP ALS 2  for rural GPs, the applicant provides consent for the RACGP to share information with third parties consistent with the purposes of assessing eligibility, delivering, and reporting the outcomes of the Pocus workshop.

Registrations and Cancellations

Once accepted and registered for the workshop, all cancellations or amendments must be made in writing to qld.bequest@racgp.org.au.

Participants are required to contact the RACGP with requests to withdraw from the workshop a minimum of seven (7) business days before the workshop date.

For participants who reschedule in writing at least seven business days in advance of the start of the workshop may be able to register for an alternative workshop, pending availability.

Completion of the program

To successfully complete GP ALS2, participants will be required to complete the 2 full-day workshop, all associated pre and post reading, CPD activities and an evaluation survey of the program.

Bequest funds will not be  available for partial or incomplete completion of the workshop.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be provided with a Certificate of Completion and will also be required to complete an evaluation survey.

Application form submission

When applying for Introduction to GP ALS 2 you must declare that:

  • You have read the Terms and Conditions and meet the eligibility criteria.
  • You understand the Terms and Conditions and eligibility criteria.
  • ou will adhere to all GP ALS 2 requirements as outlined by the RACGP.
  • You will notify the RACGP in writing before the start of your scheduled intake should you need to cancel or amend your workshop participation and understand that you will not be refunded. 
  • You understand all flights and accommodation costs will not be covered by the Bequest.
  • The information provided in your application is true and correct at the point of application.

CPD

GP ALS2 is a CPD approved activity under the RACGP CPD 2026-2028 Triennium. You can earn 26 CPD hours, which includes 16 hours educational activities and 10 hours of reviewing performance hours.
